5 Players to look out for in League One this season

So, another League One season is finally underway, as ever, each season brings us fans a few surprises and a lot of new talented players on the block. In this article, I take a look at just who those players could be this time around.

Andy Cook

Cook arrived at the Banks’ Stadium this summer, arriving from Tranmere, where the striker bagged 28 goals last season.

Cook agreed a two-year deal with the Saddlers after helping Tranmere seal their return to the football league last term.

Regan Charles-Cook

Charles-Cook joined the Gills early in the summer window after refusing to sign a new deal with Charlton Athletic. The promising midfielder spent a large majority of last season on loan at Woking, where he scored 4 goals.

The 21 year-old was an integral part of Charlton’s successful U18 and U23 sides in recent years and has had an excellent start to the campaign in Kent.

Ricky Holmes

The 31 year-old winger joined Oxford United on a season-long loan from Sheffield United on deadline day.

The former Charlton and Northampton man has been an excellent performer in League One in recent years and is looking to impress once again, despite only making 5 appearances for Sheffield United since January.

Charlie Wyke

Wyke made the switch from Bradford to Sunderland this summer following an impressive campaign with the Bantams.

The striker scored 15 goals in 40 appearances in the league last season and also assisted 7, however Wyke will be looking to improve on those figures in this campaign and fire Sunderland back to the Championship at the first time of asking.

Jason Cummings

Cummings joined the Posh this summer on a season-long loan from Championship outfit, Nottingham Forest.

Cummings made his name in the Scottish leagues with Hibernian and also Rangers but is now trying his hand in League One.

The striker has enjoyed a good start to the season with Peterborough and will be looking to improve on his goal scoring from the last campaign.
